All the aspiring engineers, what is their ultimate goal?

To get high scores in exams or to work in a real- project?

The second option is chosen by many of us, whether we are from B.tech-IT, CSE or like me, doing its software engineering. All of us want to be a part of it.

 So, what should we do for it? Have you ever heard about “KDE”?

  

The KDE Community is a technology team, which is an international too. It is dedicated in creating free and user-friendly applications. It gives platform for experimentation and solutions to various problems.

It is not only for “coders”. It is having various departments which focus on individual’s liking. There are field like, “documentation”, “translation”, “art”, “promotion” and bug testing. The experience gained will likely help that person in the near future. 

The coding part is mainly based on “C++’ and “Qt”. The documentation team is very much in demand these days as it’s their responsibility to make the whole software to be more understandable. The art team works on beautifying the whole look and feel. If you are good at it, go for it. Promotion and bug testing are amongst others which interest those who don’t have much experience in coding, still wants to contribute in it.

Experience freedom, experience big with it.

Virtualization And Cloud

The term virtualization and cloud computing goes hand in hand, there are some differences between them, but there are similarities too.

What are they? How are they different? Before going to explain that; we should have basic knowledge about- what these terms actually mean.

Virtualization - it is a single computer managing various machines. In other words, it can be said it provides multiple servers on the hardware configuration, helping in achieving high performance, reduces capital costs and etc.

What is a cloud computing? 

It can be explained in just one line- a person lives in a hotel rather than in a house is a cloud computing. Or it can be understood, there are various softwares on the cloud, a person uses them, but when his computer crashes- those software doesn’t i.e. others can still use those software. So, it is “collection” of computers and servers on the internet that can be accessed publically. Obviously there can be private clouds but right now we should take on a general term.

On the whole, Virtualization is a key component of the cloud, but cloud computing is not only “virtualization”. It usually means- “we pay for what we see” not for everything else we have been given and we are not using. It helps in “user scalability”.

So, it can be summed up as- virtualization is one physical computer pretending to have multiple computing paradigms whereas in cloud computing, there are many computers who pretend to be “one”.

Sematic web- a meaningful approach

Whether a person is 9 year old or 60 year olds, all of them can be found on internet these days. Every person is now entangled in this “web”. So why not make it more advantageous for masses. Right now we write some words and our search engine gives us numerous links to choose from. What it’s actually doing – is keyword based search.

The new web is about “meaningful search”. The idea is to make the web smarter, which is software and computer only.

Since the time, The father of the web TIM-BL(Tim berner’s lee) declared his vision to the entire world about “semantic web”. There is been several talks and researches in this area. Several words crop ups in this-“RDF”, “ONTOLOGIES”, “OWL”, “SPAR-QL” and many more.

A very simple thing which everyone asks is, “what is semantic web?”

Data have both “syntax” and “semantics” in it, what current web is doing; it’s focusing primarily on “syntax” not semantics. The web 3.0 will take into consideration its semantic part as well.

Is it web 3.0, which many calls it or its mixture of all those rdf , ontology in one entity.

The most simple and concise definition of it can be-“Its globally linked database”

Database is collection of information in a correct format so as to deliver its meaning correctly. The “linked” is playing what role?

Linked Data is a relatively new way in which data is published. With every passing day, data is increasing, and these data are distributed. It will help in “intelligent” web only when its summed up and machine will be able to analyze them. One of the key component is RDFA(which extends RDF) it  is a way of publishing Linked Data in HTML5 documents , which solves data linking problems.

RDFA works for HTML5 and variety of HTML like languages XML documents, SVG documents, as well as HTML4, XHTML1 and XHTML5 documents.

It is  a very interesting arena, making search engines more capable of human like analysis, using “natural languages” and “AI” in it.

EFUSE- a new revolution

The first thing that fascinates me after watching all those terminator movie was ; the chip-controlled protagonist and his opponent both having the capabilities of recovering from damages of the extreme kind inflicted by each other, on their own?

So now that technology is not very far away from us, Global IT giant IBM scored a coup of sorts long ago, when it revealed eFUSE, a breakthrough technology that enables harmed computer chips to heal themselves without human involvement.

As wiki says, “eFUSE is a technology invented by IBM which allows for the dynamic real-time reprogramming of computer chips.”

On 31^st July, this year IBM got the patent for, “Three dimensional vertical E-fuse structures and methods of manufacturing the same.”

The concept of self-healing, however, does not wholly belong to it. Artificial intelligence based systems have always been conceptualized to be having learning-by experience and self-maintenance capabilities. Similarly, computers used in satellites are known to have some such competence, since they need to adjust and readjust their systems occasionally to suit the environment they operate within. Even ordinary office users of Microsoft Internet Explorer must have noticed that the Browser, post its version 5.0, had the capability of repairing itself in the event of its crucial files getting corrupted. Computers managed by computers themselves are perhaps going to be the natural culmination of the ongoing digital revolution.

iphone 4S- the king of all...

Many of friends bought new cell phones this semester. and  for several days we were brain storming which one to buy. while we were looking for, "economical yet fancy, good featured phone".

one phone came up as the "king" of all- iphone 4S- - if a person  don't mind paying for it.

The iPhone 4S comes with a faster processor, a better camera, a smarter virtual assistant and twice the storage of its predecessor. many sites like techradar.com, gave 4.5 out of 5 stars to it. according to my opinion, every thing have its pros and cons. then why to judge something by its cover?

one of my cousin recently bought it, and at first he stated, "iphone 4 is outdated for sure". this made me think "really?"

at last, if a person is keen to spend Rs.45,000 on a phone. then bring the "king" home. its worth it!!
